Default Reduced engine power!

So I got the message twice! Got home and shut the car off. Took it out the next morning and it ran fine until I was close to home again and it popped up. I changed the battery as soon as it happened the first time. Also got the codes read and it was P2138 .Now I'm going to take it to the dealer and ask them to replace the throttle body. I ordered the accelerator pedal with the sensor and I'll just replace that myself. This should cover all the bases for that code and the "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" problem right?

I would research this problem on the forum here, or hopefully someone comes along with info on that issue.

I would be very hesitant to run to a dealership (stealership). Just saying....

Check your plug wires and coils wires, pull on them to check not just look at them.

Do a search for reduced engine power here also.

One of your plug wires is loose. Check every one, then check them again. Very common on our cars... I'll only charge half what the dealer would charge lol

HAHAHA Thanks, i’ll check the wires also. I still should change my throttle body and accel pedal since they do go bad around my mileage right? A couple of people on here said they needed to change their TBs around ~150! I’m at 123

P2128 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 2 Circuit High Voltage ECM

Hence problem is at the gas pedal.

So on that note, start with pulling the connector for the gas pedal, clean the pins on the connector and the socket sides, plug the connector back in, and see if it solves, the problems. If not, then pull the BCM and ECM connectors with the battery disconnected to do the same, and see if that solves the problem.

If no, then time to replace the gas pedal assembly, since the sensor is part of it, and you can not buy the sensor alone.

As for TB, kind of throwing the baby out with the bath water replacing it, since it can be pulled apart to just clean it sensor parts when it does start to have problems.

So, it's not the problem in the first place, and the car is throwing a code pointing you to the gas pedal sensor. Hence gas pedal sensor is two loop system, with one side that gains resistance, while the other side loses resistance as the pedal is pressed down, and when the values do not match, will throw the car into limp mode so the car does not go WOT on it own to wreck you out when the drive by wire system has a problem.

Thank you for helping. Yes you are correct! I wish that was the code that was pulled but it was P2138 code which has to deal with the throttle position sensor that is on the throttle body right? Since both codes are related to each other I might as well change the throttle body AND the pedal with the sensor (as i said in my first post I already bought that exact part you showed) That way I shouldn't have to deal with it for another 150000 miles right?

P2138 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1-2 Correlation ECM

So we start with same some on the TB connector pins to make sure they are clean, not causing the problem. Same/same on ECM connector as well as a quick check through the wiring so it does not have problems/broken wires as well.

If TB sensors inside are the problem, then we pull the TB, break out the security torque bit and pull the control side off the TB so we can get at the swipe fingers and pads of the sensors to clean them.

If pulling the TB apart is above your skill level to clean the sensors in it, then need to make sure that your replacement vane color is the same color as the one you have now on your TB. The early silver and later model gold vane TB's open the opposite directions.

And again, weed out the wiring/connectors as not the problem first, before you tear apart the TB, or replace it.
