Same. I was in HS when it came out and I was in love. The look of the C6 mimics the hatchback (non first gen rt-10s) and thats what got me into them... plus, the widebody has that nice NACA duct... If the viper had the same sort of aftermarket support as the C6, I may have waited for a good priced viper. As it stands, the C6 is way easier to live with, easier to fix, easier to drive, and easier to find parts for... Maybe one day if I have a 5 car garage i'll get a viper toy.

The disrespect to Corvettes in this thread. All people want to talk about are Ferrari and Viper. Yall should hand in your Vette keys.
Already owned a testarossa, and lets just say that even parts, not counting labor if your not wrenching on the car yourself, is outlandish. Throw in pulling the motor every 4 years to replace the timing belt (even if car was stored), and even with it just sitting, still expensive to own.
Same goes for the Austin martin. Hence you can pick older import High performance sports car for fraction of what they sold for new, but upkeep parts are going to eat you alive in the end.
Bottom line, the one selling point of the Corvettes, is the upkeep cost (and parts) are relativity cheap compared to anything imported.
Take a Ferrari that has to go into every year for servicing, and the min you looking at is around $5K. Same with my current 911T, and it will eat clutches every 40K like a rabbit dog on a chew toys as well. DB9 or DBR which I prefer over the two, if the parts cost don't eat you alive (ceramic rotors that can not be turned to clean up), the labor costs will instead. Hence rebuilt motor if the one in the car has problems, you looking at over $25K. Hell, for a set of Heads on a DB9 used, you can pick up a new crate LS3 motor for less.
So to sum it up, before you start looking at import sports cars prices, know that price of admission for a year of the upkeep costs to begin with first. Hence there is a reason that some of the older units are going for such low prices, since the old owner was into the car for over twice the amount they first paid for them, in just the cost of yearly service work and repairs that added up over the years. So your comparing once car that you can pick up for around the $30K mark, and spend another $10K in the next 10 years as upkeep, against a import car that you can pick up for about the same amount of money, but that you will be into over $60K in the next ten years for its upkeep costs isntead.

Exactly, Corvettes are expensive enough to own. An Aston Martin is only for the rich, really rich.
