Default Bilstein's B6 Install

So here are some pictures of a set Bilstein's I installed today. About four hours total. It was a lot easier that I've researched. Tools used Lisle 20400 15 and 17MM box end and 15mm 1/2 drive deep socket. Jack stands

Remove overflow tank Two 7/16 nuts

Top of the shock mount. Use the 20400 Lisle

I removed the four 15mm bolts holding the upper A-Arm Old shock out

This is the 20400

Great timing. I just received the new Z06 shocks for my 2008 narrow body C6. I plan on installing them in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the pictures.

I'm curious to hear what you think of them. I have them on my Chevelle and they work well on that, but stiffened up the ride too much on my 4th gen Z28.

Thanks for the pictures.
I also installed the Z06 shocks, you’ll love the upgrade, also use the zip tie method and you won’t have to remove the upper A-arms or bolts.

Nice upgrade OP, nice write up also. My next set of shocks I may try the Bilsteins.

I’ve only put about 10 miles on them so far but they feel pretty good. I have 48000 miles on the car and had the original shocks. So big difference. Bilstein’s are OE on C7 Z51 package. I’ve sold many different shocks as I am retired auto parts guy. Always had great experience with them.

I replaced the OEM shocks with Bilsteins at 77K, now at 149K on the replacements. I went with the base shock. As the OEMs were shot I noticed the difference right away.

Haven't had a chance to test drive just yet, only about ten miles so far. I’ll leave my review after a few more miles

Thanks. I pull the wheels once a month and detail the wheels and wells. Never drive in the rain. It's a third car and used mostly on sunny weekends

Yes was worth it in every way. The original shocks were worn out. 48000 miles So big difference in ride, handing and very quiet. Total cost $425.00 with shipping and the lisle 20400 shock tool. from Rock Auto $90.00 each shock. Yes I would recommend these shocks.

I put Bilstein HD's on my base C6. Huge upgrade. So much so that when I bought a 2020 Ram I immediately picked up Bilstein's for it too.

I just did mine with the Bilstein B6 today. Noticed a creaking noise before like doves chirping from the front, from the old factory shocks, with only 39k miles on my car. Noise is now gone, and the steering isn't fighting me, the old shocks were stiff and overly firm. Now its a bit softer, and better feel over the bumps,.more control of the front end!

The original upper shock mounts are like a hard plastic and become squeaky. The shocks probably not making the noise. The Bilstein's have a nice soft rubber mounts. I do like the original style mounts better. Not sure what year your car is but the mounts were probably dried out and hard. I 'am glad you like them, I do as well.

YES!! That creaky noise was driving me crazy!! Even people in the car asked what it was, when driving slow, it sounded liked doves chirping in the engine. I tried lubricating everything at that front end, and nothing worked. I'd figured it was the shocks, but it was the most expensive, and last thing to try. I am enjoying the car better with the B6s.
