Looks familiar to me too, but I can’t recall from where. The previous reply of it being something that was in the tread of the tire makes sense.

It's an encapsulated screw nut with reverse threads that acts as a spacer between the brake pad and the pressure compensator for the ABS. DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR.

I'll guess it is the recessed nut for a headlight switch on a 50's or 60's car, most likely GM
