If that's not a typo, the crank position sensor doesn't have a battery. If any sensor is failing, I would think that there would be a code set, so step 1 is to get the codes read. If it is a typo and you meant 'or' as long as the engine is running the alternator supplies enough electricity to run the car, except possibly at idle speed, so the engine should continue to run even with a bad battery. I'd also be suspicious of the fuel pump. Problems with fuel delivery could cause the engine to die suddenly.

Get yourself a code reader & that will help to get started with a diagnosis, it's tough to say what the problem is without it

Pull history codes, and see what is having problems.

Problem may just be a loose starter solenoid nut where the alternator and battery cable hooks together, and this causing the alternator not charge the battery up correctly. Other problems may be either sensor connector loose, or sensor going bad instead.

Hence pull the history codes to see where the problem is, and will be an easy fix in the end (instead of trying to attack the problem blindly isntead).

If you don't have a tool to pull codes, check to see how old your battery is. I had several electrical gremlins going on in my 09. I saw that the battery was five years old, took it to Autozone, they installed a new battery for me, and all of the gremlins went away and haven't come back.
