Hey everyone, i'm suffering from the dreaded bubbled/peeling leather dash. After speaking to many upholstery shops I've decided to replace the dash with a new one. My question is if any of the forum dealers offer deals on said dash? I have a 2008 Z06 with HUD and black leather.
The majority of the automotive upholstery shops around me wont touch it. One shop has agreed to re-glue it after the windshield is removed. This shop has been very difficult to communicate with to the point that I don't trust them. Two others wont touch it. I have one more shop that hasn't seen it, but is willing to re-glue as long as the leather hasn't stretched. After that, my only option is to buy a new dash. I realize that the same problem might occur on the new dash. My mitigation would be to have the new dash re glued prior to its installation.
When I was looking at replacing mine I believe a new dash was $1600-$1800.
Lethal removed my dash, repaired it and reinstalled it for $1100. No idea where you are located but even paying shipping to and from I think you would be further ahead and you wouldn't have to re glue a new dash or worry about future delamination.
If you do go the new dash route, as part of your mitigation plan who would you get to re glue it prior to installation?
I could be swayed to remove the windshield over removing the entire dash.
I would be hesitate to buy a new dash, as some odds that the problem may reoccur.
Therefore I would look toward a repair of you current dash.
......
So I think the decision is: dash removal or not. ....
I agree! I actually think that Dash removal is not that hard but it is A LOT OF WORK. There is a website that details the install of a 4LT dash. Dash Removal and Install
I removed mine and reinstalled it and I did not think it was that hard at all. I'm not a professional but I have been doing my own car repair since the '70's Here's a picture of my dash removed. Hopefully, this will convince you to try it or scare you away from it. Windshield removal is probably is easier, but not something I would (could) want to tackle.

I was actually wondering if the standard black dash could be removed and replaced with something that matched the beige/cashmere interiors. You've answered my question. The black dash with a light interior is too much of a contrast for me
