Hey guys so I bought a 2009 c6 automatic corvette and when I accelerated I noticed I heard a strange noise close to redline , I thought nothing of it . Then the noise went down to 5k rpm then to 3k rpm , it’s like a shaving metal kind of noise like a grinding , and only happens when I go passed 3000 rpms , also makes a light thumping noise while parked , makes the same noise parked too if I rev passed 3k (loud shaving/grinding) . What could it be?? Please help
More information needed. Manual or Auto ? If manual probably clutch. We have seen this scenario before. New member owner beats on it before getting to know the car. Possibly in the torque tube also. I see you just edited to Auto.

It wasn’t me I swear 😂 I bought it off this young kid 🤦🏽♂️ He did not take care of the car , but yeah I took it to my mechanic and we both agreed it was the torque tube , I was just wanted to double check before buying the 1200 dollar part and the 1100 labor job ... I was concerned because I didn’t know if the torque tube could make noise still while in park , we look under the car with a lift and we seen metal shavings come from the fly wheel and torque tube
or whatever it is connecting the front of the torque tube to engine
There's a splined shaft at the front of the torque tube that slides into the flywheel. During assembly at Bowling Green on my 2007 vert that shaft failed to mate completely by about 1/2". When the torque tube bolts were fastened, each of the two six-sided black rubber elastomers ("guibos") distorted 1/4". The vibration was very weird. The front bearing never seated in its sleeve. Both guibos, the front bearing, and both rear bearings needed replacement. All are now difficult to find because GM stopped stocking them. The repaired torque tube is as good as new after 150,000 miles.
