Cleaning car cover - maybe dumb question
Okay, I have one of those silky indoor car covers that GM sold back in '07 for my car. It is getting pretty dusty to the point that it makes the car dirtier than if I left it uncovered. Can you wash these or do they fall apart when you do? Did a search and found nothing.

I have a satin stretch fit cover the two tone type and mine says it fine in a washer, but not to use a dryer. I take mine on the screened in patio and spread the chairs out so I put it over teh chairs so it is not touching the slab.

I have a cover king stretch satin indoor cover with a fleece insert, and I've washed mine numerous times in the washer, and used the dryer on cold air to dry it without any adverse affect.

I would suggest using a laundromat (save yours, gets heavy) and use woolite, gentler

I don't know about you all, but I would never put it back on without inspecting the underside of the cover.
Just the same as inspecting your MF cloths. I do when I fold them. I actually have tweezers to pull anything possibly stuck in the cloth.
That times a thousand for your cover to make sure nothing is stuck that would scatch the paint.

I have the same cover and I’ve washed it several times
i pitch it in the dryer with no heat
when washed I wash it on cold and use the 1/2 the
amount of soap and no fabric softener
no bounce in the dryer

The OP stated his cover made the car worse because the cover was so dirty. If that is the case wash it and see what happens. It is doing you no good dirty so take a chance.
I had a stretch satin cover that I put in the washer and dryer many times with NO issues. When using the drier ONLY use air dry. NOT heated air.

Today’s washers and dryers have infinite selections to handle anything and everything. I’ve washed mine many times with low heat dryer settings and still like new.

Manufacturer recommended half strength simple green with the washer on delicate cycle for mine.
