Car damaged
I hit the brakes and stopped. Thinking she will stop and let me continue ahead or go around me, but she never stops.
She continues to turn left in front of me and cuts it sharp towards me. I'm honking the horn now, as I can tell she'll hit me if she continues.
She passes right by my front end and clips my ride with her left side of her truck with the running boards on the truck.
Had I not stopped, she would have plowed into the right side door area, where Anne was sitting. SMH
Anne says the lady never looked at us, but saw her still looking back towards the corner. Apparently at the dog the lady later mentions.
She says she was looking at a man walking his dog and didn't see me until AFTER we crashed. It all happened very fast, no time for me to back up and there was a car behind me anyway.
A witness/neighbor saw it all and couldn't believe it. He heard my horn and turned to look and saw the crash. He was working in his driveway on the corner right beside us.
This all happend just 6 houses down from ours, as we're heading home. Lady says she's sorry and has insurance proof and lives 2 blocks away.
I had no stop sign and she did, along with pictures and the witness, so I'm good on that part. So no costs to me, except the troubles of getting it fixed.
Now it's the trouble of finding a place to get it properly fixed and paint matched around here in the Reno/Sparks area.
Do they still make these parts? Front piece and fender for a 2008? Is the dealership the best place for these parts?
What's the normal repairs on these parts? Repair or replace? Anyone?
Is there a formula for the depreciated value, because of the wreck, that we should get as re-imbursment?
What should I be asking for or expect on this? We both are with State Farm insurance. Thanks, for any information.
Feeling like crap about this, just glad no one was hurt and it wasn't worse.
I have never been happy with attempts to repair polyurethane bumper covers. If it's creased or cracked, the best fix is replacement.
If the bumper cover is replaced and the fender can be reused, standard operating procedure would be to sand the clear coat from the entirety of both front fenders and the hood, paint the new bumper while color blending into the three adjacent panels, and then shoot clear on all four panels.
If the bumper cover can be reused, you can get away with painting just the bumper and the driver's fender.

The fender and front is scrubbed and in the darkest area is bent inward at the seam point too.
I just want it done right for us and the next owners, if/when we sell it later on. Thanks.
And it sucks that that happened to you. Who needs more stress in these times?
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Week ago Sunday other half was driving up the valley we live in and a deer torpedo''ed her in our 2017 F-450 pickup in the passenger side doors. Damage barely visible except the door to cab body lines are just not quite right. Doors are tweaked, missing piece of trim for the lower rear corner of the cab and a small dent in the trucks bed which will be pulled out. But both aluminum doors are goners and the truck will require repaint of the entire right side two tone paint scheme. Estimate:: $7,000.00 and change.
The pisser is there was no place within a half mile to stop and gather up bambi for some very expensive venison.
On the bright side, pays to have good insurance. No cost to us..

As to the police, no call or ticket. The insurance company will handle it.
As of now, it looks like I'm going to our local Concours shop. They are getting alot of good reports, but still looking things over.
We'll see what's really hurt when it's taken apart. Thanks for your replies.

The right fender is alright, just repair deal. Then of course the paint and clear coats. Then replace the SunTek paint protection on the bumper, headlight and fog light.
I talked with the owner, as he has a white Z06 of his own. So a Corvette guy is in charge of it all and I feel a bit better now.
It goes into the shop on the 17th and should be about a week. Hope things go well.

If they do that or not. I was given a name by the shop owner to get a professional guy that does it long distance, if I need him.
Said it's cost was about 400.00 for him to handle it for me. We'll see if it's needed.
What insurance were you dealing with and who was your appraiser? Them or someone you hired? Thanks.
Anyone have any idea what the diminished value would be on a 25K valued ride? Approx.?
