with a charger-maintainer--whats best for the battery? Holding a float charge at around 13.20 volts OR a charger-maintainer that shuts off and lets battery get to 12.70 volts and than kicks back again to fully charge--or doesnt it matter?c

Maintainer. You don't want your battery to constantly be charging.
You know what ... I buy those DieHard 'Gold' batteries from Advance Auto with the 3-year free replacement warranty.
The last one I bought lasted 2 1/2 years ... Took it back to Advance Auto and got a new replacement with NO money out of my pocket.
I am hoping this one also lasts less than 3-years so I can get another new one free ... That way, I may never have to buy a battery for this C6 again ! . . .

Some warranties say you got 2 1/2 years out of the first item and, as long as you get 6 months out of the replacement (3 year total) they are off the hook.
Per Die-Hard warranty: If we replace a battery as provided in this paragraph, the Free Replacement Period applicable to your replacement battery shall be the unexpired portion of the Free Replacement Period relating to the replaced battery.

Most warranties are like that. Can't expect free forever.
Well, I didn't read the warranty. I was hoping to get another free battery in a couple of years ... oh well
At least I got a new battery after getting 2 1/2 years out of the last one.
Thanks for taking the time to actually post info on the warranty
I had to replace the battery in my Corvette and my cavalier in the last 2 months (that sucked). The vette's lasted a little over the 3 years so no warranty or pro-rated left. The cavalier's was 7 years old, both Auto Zone gold. Auto Zone changed their warranty so yeah nothing last forever. The guy at AutoZone said people will intentionally **** up their battery right before the warranty is up to keep getting a new one. Just saying.
For us of those that don't drive the car year round I use a trickle charger that turns off as stated above and only turns on as needed. My '12 had the original AC Delco battery up until this past spring. Nothing lasts forever but the difference between the OEM battery from the factory and the AC Delco I purchased from the Chevy dealer was the original battery had a 7 year warranty vs. the new battery (which is the best OEM you can buy from the dealer) is a 3 1/2 year warranty.
IMHO best replacement battery for Corvettes is the Optima Red Top. Original AC Delco in my '05 lasted seven years, with regular use of Battery Tender. Replacement Red Top was going strong at year seven (also on Battery Tender) but decided to change out. Second Red Top now going strong into second year....again on the tender. Never had a battery issue in my Vette with the Red Tops.
