I'm wondering if an ECM can be reprogrammed with a different VIN to make it work in another car. I've got another ECM but it won't work because of the wrong VIN programmed.
If so, can someone step me through the menu structure to get where I can do it.

2023 C6 of the Year Winner - Unmodified
2020 C6 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
2019 C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods)
check out this video..................... pay attention at the 3:00 minute mark, let me know if you want a Tech II users manual, I could email it to you
Will need to install the new ecm in the car, then SPS firmware flash the ECM to vin it to the car.
If 2009 or older, than can use Tis2000, while is 2010 or newer, will need to use TDS on line.
Hence standard version of Tis2000 only goes to 2009.
As for either tech II or Vx GM nano, either can be use with a laptop, with them in pass through mode.

So, do I have to install some program onto a computer (like in the vid) or can I go directly with the Tech2? Or is that if I want to update the rest of the software?

sent you a couple PM's earlier.................... software programs may be available online in CD form?????

The tech II will be used as a pass through device/module from the car to the laptop,
and will need either cracked Tis2000 if the car is 2009 or older loaded on the laptop, or will need a TDS account and TDS software on the laptop if the are is 2010 or older.
What year car, and what tech II do you have? Hence hand held clone, or VX GM nano.
If Nano, and 2009 or older, can hook you up with a working copy of Tis2000, and Bob's your uncle since it comes with a working USB cable to connect it to the laptop.
Will need the USB cable (if you don't have one) to connect the hand held Tech II clone to the laptop since laptops have not had Rs232 ports in a long time (cable that came with the unit to connect it to a computer), but email me with a phone number so we can talk and I can hook you up with TIS2000 to firmware flash.
Hence win 10 laptop with dual core processor to run VM player, and the TIS2000 is build in XP shell to run under the VM player.
As for laptop, just make sure you can install VM player on it, and it will be good to go. https://www.vmware.com/products/work...valuation.html
