Default What are these things?

I commonly see these bars attached to the front splitters on C6 & C7 corvettes? What are they called? What’s their purpose? And where do you find them? Thanks!

They are called Splinter Adjusters. On race cars they are used to adjust the height of your splitter... on a street car they are to make it look like a race care ;-)

On those cars, they are about the same as adding a decal.

they are to keep your splitter more secure

I personally really like the way they look, can only be pulled off if your car is agressive in appearance and power

I have seen posts of people putting those wide splitters on the front, then having to go back and put some reinforcing in the grill area because they started to sag.
Would probably prevent that too. I agree, you need the right looking car to pull those off.

There are a lot of people who put them on for appearance purposes & only attach the top to the front fascia - not anything structural. Then they are surprised when they rip out of the front fascia after traveling at high speeds & leave nice holes

People don’t seem to realize the front splitter & side skirts on the ZR1 & Z06/Z07 serve an actual aerodynamic purpose & create downforce. They’re not appearance pieces.

They are about the same as those that put LED's in every opening and under their cars to attract attention.

Exactly. If installed correctly as @JABCAT noted, they hold the splitter in place at high speeds.

They are car-braces. It makes sure everyone knows you're a poser. No. No. But seriously, they are there to make sure that if you bottom out and damage your splitter, you also damage your bumper. They help angle your splitter and capture the turtles that you're trying to scoop with your car. Right up there with tow hooks, sticker-vents and underglow lights.

Lets back it up a bit, and understand that only the Wide body C6 cars have a factory produced front bumper splitter re-enforcement bracket that prevents the front/bottom of the front bumper from begin pulled down by wind force when a front splitter is added at speeds.

You add a splitter to a base model, and moving fast enough, bottom of front fender is going to be pulled down, and the splitter is going to be rubbing on the road.

Next we get into long front splitters, and again at high enough speeds, even with the bumper support bracket in play, the splitter can split enough air to pull the front lip downward and some case, either crack the splitter or ripe it off the bottom of the bumper.

So here,

Front bumper does not have a splitter support bracket and the braces are being used to keep the bottom of the fender (with splitter) from begin pulled downward at speeds.

In this one, since car is a wide body and can use a splitter fender support bracket, and the splitter is not that much far forward, a cosmetic thing on the brackets for show alone.

The splitter needs to be of substantial size.

Key words: at high enough speeds.

On cars like that, it's a ricer modification. The primary purpose is that it is a structurally-mounted brace that prevents the splitter from being pulled down due to the force of the air moving over it. Most of these cars you see, it's drilled into a body panel and this can result in amusing results if they splitter gets pulled down and rips through the body panel.

Those adjusters can also be purchased as a kit, which includes the adjusters, a huge CORVETTE windshield decal, and caliper covers.
