I have a 2010 Corvette. I'm having error message saying "Service Fuel System". I get this intermittently and the gas needle goes to E. Got this code at AutoZone P2068. On a side note, I had to replace the driver's side fuel filter 11 months ago.
P2068 is a RH fuel sending unit signal failure. When you fill your tank, the left side fills first then spills through a crossover tube to fill the right tank. That fuel is used first so when your car is half full, the RH tank is empty and the LH tank is full.
The fuel sensors are submerged in gas which keeps the lubricated. The right sensor is no longer submerged in gas when the gauge is at 1/2. If cheap gas without a good detergent additive (like Techron) is used a lot, then deposits (from sulfur in cheap gas) can be left on the sensor causing it to no longer send a proper signal to the fuel gauge. That is when you get the "fuel system error"
You will read suggestions to add a couple bottles of Techron to clean the deposits. That does not always works as sometimes the tiny fingers that sweep across the fuel sensor to send the proper resistance reading for fuel amount get broken off. This would require replacing the sensor.
Here is my write-up that discusses what I did....add some resistors in place of the sensor to trick the fuel gauge.

thanks. Is it definitely the right side sending unit? I was hoping it was the left side since it would be covered under warranty since I got left side fuel pump replaced last March for $1800.

Yes...P2068 is circuit 2 which is the right tank. P0463 is generally the code for the left tank.
If you read threads on this topic, you will see a lot of recommendations to replace both sides fuel pump and sensor since it is such a labor-intensive job to drop the tanks.

Is there any detriment to living with it without getting it fixed?

I didn't feel like living with the "service fuel system" dinging chime and hard set DTCs, and I certainly didn't feel like dropping the tanks . So I found a solution that has worked fine for 7 years now.
If you have some wrench-turning talent, it is a pretty easy workaround. You are basically going through the right rear wheel well and cutting the fuel sender wires and adding resistors and toggle switch that emulates the defective sending unit.
Mine is starting to go out as well. It's odd - the gas gauge drops to E when I fill it up completely but it's accurate once the first gallon or so gets used. But then the engine lights comes on and I got tired of taking the battery loose to reset it. So I'm just living with it by filling it mostly up and stopping when there's a gallon or so left. That keeps the errors from popping up. It's such an expensive and labor intensive project for a relatively small issue in my case. I'll have to address it eventually as the problem inevitably gets worse.
