I just had a sheriff's deputy stop by my house to do a vin# check for registration (purchased out of state). During the conversation I asked him if I could just put the front plate on the dash until I got the bracket and he let me know that there's a single plate permit you can get for $100 that allows you to only have the rear plate and a small sticker on the windshield. This is awesome and although I don't think it's annual, I don't care if it is! SCORE!!! This is in Nebraska and they just started it a couple of years ago. I'd never heard of such a thing!
I just run one plate per Vette (several Vettes) and only once in 19 years did I get a ticket for it, I paid 25 bucks for the fix it ticket. I don’t run front plates on my SUV or sedan, no tickets either. I’m in California so maybe they don’t care as much as other states, not sure.
Radio Frequency Identification Device. Also known as a 'chip' or 'tag'.
The RFID tag is a tiny radio receiver/transmitter that responds to an RFID-reader's interrogating signal by transmitting a digital code. Examples include "tap-and-go" credit cards, the "Smart Tag" toll-collecting devices used in Maryland (and other states), and the "Flu Chip" that tinfoil-hatters believe will be implanted with the COVID vaccine so that "Bill Gates" can track you.
Ah, the government. Where you pay more for less. If front plates are so important, why does $100 get you out of using one? If NC had front plates, I wouldn't use them. I didn't when I had a Z06 in NJ. Cops would point it out if they were pulling me over for something else, but I was never cited for it.

Thanks for the info but you could have left out all the flue chip stuff.
I had a 01 C5 for 11 years when I lived in Illinois - a front plate state. I never got stopped for not running it the entire time I was there. I kept it behind the passenger seat just in case.
My question is why did the sheriff's deputy have to stop by to do a vin# check for registration? Never heard of this in my entire life. I have nothing against cops and nothing to hide but don't want them uninvited at my home.

state law requires it for out of state purchase. They usually do it at the courthouse however i didn’t want to drive 90 miles round trip on salt covered roads. It was a courtesy for them. To come to the house and they were invited.
