Default Front Camera Wire Run

Anyone run camera wiring through the hood latch cable grommet? Or, bad idea? I checked tonight and it seems the latch cable housings remain pretty stable when the inside handle is pulled. And, it’s not like they’d be in constant motion.

I have cameras and a new HU to install...probably going to wait and do it all at the same time as the lower shifter box. Just trying to have a decent plan.

I ran mine through the grommet for the main wiring harness behind the battery (red arrow), another option is where I ran the power for my amp which would require drilling a small hole in the firewall (yellow arrow). This is assuming your battery is under the hood and not in the back of the car.

I ran mine up under the driver’s side fender, under the A-pillar and into the car. Follow the wire bundle under the knee bolster/steering wheel and then to the back the head unit. Easy to do, easy to get to if you ever need to change/remove it.

How'd your install go? Did you take pics?

I ran mine just above the hood release cable grommet by drilling a small hole then sealing it once the camera wire was run through. No issues

Well, I decided in the end that I didn't need that front camera. I just learned how to judge where curbs and wheel stops are when parking. Other than introducing the front end of my car to a concrete highway barrier this past Tuesday (no camera was gonna prevent that!), I've had no issues without it.
