I have a 07 base model with the LS2. Now my question is would it be worth it to engine swap it to an LS7 yes I know the Z06 motor. Or procharge it.
now I can already see everyone saying about the motor about not jumping trim levels and things like that. Trust me I know but I’m trying to see what would work best. I bought the vet as a learning/project car. So in cost, in maintenance time and just in general which would be better?
You’d have to buy the LS7 then spend a few thousand more to have the heads fixed. Then you’ll have the labor charges of pulling your engine & then installing the LS7. Keep in mind also the LS7 is a dry sump oiling system so you’ll need those components. You’ll need to relocate your battery to the rear of the vehicle with those associated costs.
It makes next to zero financial sense to swap an LS7 vs adding a supercharger.
Let me help you out; trade your car for a Z06. It sounds like you really want an LS7. Skip to the end of this long, expensive dance and just get what you want at the start.
First I want to say thanks you guys for the fast reply’s and basically telling me what I needed to hear. Second my goal for this car is to learn as much as I can about an engine/paint/transmission ect. So where I was going with this was trying learn to engine swap but ProCharge is what I’m going todo. I will absolutely get a Z06 in the hopefully not to distant future so I can definitely play with a LS7!

Your best bet here in California (if I got that correct) Is to go to A&A and get one of his kits for your LS2 Vette - Andy will treat you very good and steer you in the right direction
