I see the use of "jack" pucks on C6's. Are they necessary and where are they available?? Also, anybody who's done a HB replacement I'd appreciate you take a look a a video I posted in thread "HB Dilemma" and let me know what you think. Greatly appreciated.
Pucks are not needed as you can just bend down and position the jack on the frame . The rocker panel is close to the jack location and shops are known to just swing the lift arm under there and go for it. If car is jacked on that panel, then you have an expensive repair. So if you take to a shop, is a good idea to provide pucks for the tech.
You are up north so should be easy for you to find a bin of used $1 hockey pucks at a rink or sporting goods store. They work fine. You can add an eye bolt to them that allows the puck to fit in the frame slot that you can twist slightly to hold them temporarily in place.
RE:HB I changed mine myself, so feel free to ask away. A slight chirp shouldn't be a concern in getting it home. I drove mine for many months with a chirp. It WAS more noticeable at start up and quieted done when engine warmed up. If only a slight wobble, then it shouldn't throw the belt which would be your biggest concern IMO.
I think you would notice if the outer ring was starting to separate from the hub, which is when you shut her down.
I always use them, breaking a rocker panel is a major pain as it is glued to the frame and I prefer the "better safe than sorry" strategy. I purchased mine from one of the Corvette specialty websites, so do a search on C6 jacking pucks. Biggest issue is ensuring that auto & tire shops use them and jack the car on the proper locations. I keep mine in the trunk & watch the mechanics like a hawk. I caution against the metal pucks as they could cause a jack to slip, which might result in major damage as well.
If you do your own work, you will also need to invest in a low-profile jack as these cars are low to the ground. Same with drive-on ramps.

If you have a drill, a hack saw or Dremel tool, you can make your own for less than $20 with hockey pucks and hardware from your local home improvement store.

Might have been overkill, but I ended up getting these

I just bought 4 of the plastic ones on line. They snap in and are always there. I'm a former hockey player and have lots of pucks I could have made to work but figured I have a Vette so why not pony up for a proper set.
