What have you guys paid for rear and side window tinting. I'm having problems finding someone to do the rear window and the ones I've found want $500.00.
My guy did sides and rear for under 250. 1 piece rear and that was also to tear off the lighter tint I originally had as well. I think it was under 200...but not 100% sure lol
I had mine done for $125, but that was just the sides. I asked about the back - which was already tinted, and he said he'd do it for $250. Problem is, with couple anyway, there's a dotted strip at the top which does not hold tint well and will pull away after time (mine did and that was why I asked) so I just stayed with what I had - but those were the prices out here in CA for a local mobile guy to come to the house and do it. He did a beautiful job on the sides.
Hard to compare apples to apples without knowing type of tint, but $500 is excessive. I called around to a few places and ended up on a shop I trust and it was $300 for Formula One Pinnacle. Here in DFW, the going rate for high end ceramic film $3-400. One thing I have read here and heard from installers is the rear window in the c6 is one of the toughest out there.
EDIT: For reference, some quotes I got. One shop was $195 for their cheapest tint, $379 for their best. Another places was $249-449. The type of film definitely makes a difference in longevity and heat rejection.

I have a coupe and it looks like the back already had tint on it when I bought it. The dots at the top that were already mentioned definetly cause some pull away, but its not really that noticeable. I want to get my doors tinted, but might just leave the back the way it is. It was probably tinted by the previous owner to prevent people from seeing into the trunk as easily. It seems fairly dark.
I will say that I got my 2014 optima tinted all the way around (4 doors and the rear glass) for 250$ a few years ago. I cant imagine paying anywhere near that for this car.

I got a price of around $300 from a very reputable company that does most of the car dealers in town...oh, that was to remove ver dark (and probably illegal) tint and replace,
I bought the car used and I can't see out the window with sunglasses on.
I paid $150 for ceramic tint, but that was because they did me a favor because they had to re-do my first car. My first car was perfect after they re-did it, and they didn't charge me to re-do it, thats why I trusted them with the vette. I think the original quote was $225. It's all about supply and demand. Down here in South Florida there are a million shops that tint, so it drives the prices down. In more rural areas you will find less shops and higher prices. I would not pay a dime over $300 at the very highest. My C6 is 5% just like my DD. My c5 I think I paid $250 for the tint in NJ but that was 10+ years ago, did 5% in the back hatch and 20% on the sides because front window tinting of any level is illegal in NJ.
as mentioned, many factors will determine price:
- the number of shops around
- quality of the tint (from cheap colored film to dual-layer ceramic... which greatly affect heat rejection)
- how dark you want (if darker than state limits, some places charge more, won't warranty it, will only do cash sale, refuse the job, etc.)
- the shape of the glass: vette rears are complex shapes that require weird cuts & take more skill / time
i paid $140 for the sides, back, & windshield visor in north FL (back in 2010) for the cheap tint. comparatively, i retinted my GMC last summer (2 doors, flat back glass, & windshield visor) with single-layer ceramic for $310.
As a lot of people have mentioned, the price can vary greatly based on a lot of factors. The main one being the type of tint, dyed, ceramic, nanoceramic, etc. I just received a quote from an amazing shop that uses Llumar tint. I have used this shop two times before. They quoted me anywhere from $250 - $450, depending on the type of tint. My confusion is that those prices are the same prices that I was quoted for my daily driver, which is a 2020 Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid. The Camry probably uses twice as much tint and takes at least twice as long to do. I was pretty surprised that the prices were the same. I did do nanoceramic on the Camry and wanted to do the same on the Vette, but I thought it would have been a bit less for the Vette.
I've had cheap tint before and I will never go cheap again. It fades, the heat rejection isn't as good, overall there is just a huge difference between the cheap stuff and the good stuff.

My guys told me they charge full sedan price due to the extreme curve of the back window. The original quote was lower when he thought I had a C7.
