also wondering if a bad/failing master cylinder would throw any codes on the c6? i have no issue with my brake pedal but noticed a slight leak on the cap and around the seams after a hard driving sesh.
In answer to your question, yes this is the Brake Master Cylinder hydraulic pump and contains a reservoir that holds brake fluid. The only thing missing is brake fluid and installation.

I just replaced mine. I bought the same one at RockAuto and think I paid $70.
You have to bench bleed it before installing it. I bought a bench bleed kit on Amazon for about $12. Very easy to replace and now I can see the brake fluid level.
