I would suggest removing the console, sand it down to remove any raised area and then fill the scratch with JB Weld Plastic Bonder. Its a two part epoxy that works great for plastic repairs. I have used it for many repairs on my C4 dash parts. Sand down after it sets with fine sandpaper and paint with whatever color you want. Be sure to use an adhesion promoter for a primer before painting..

Yes, fix the scratch first. But I would also consider a wrap as you can get carbon fiber, metallic, and color change looks as well. Be sure to use an adhesion promoter for wraps. I've had my wrapped console for 4 years now and looks awesome.
Now that I've seen it I would sand smooth with 800 grit and then wrap or paint the console. There's a recent post by a forum member that sprayed the console with Rustoleum and Rustoleum clear. The results were awesome. You might want to look it up.
Agree....that is a sand and paint as it is down to the bare surface (lots of options though)....You could also upgrade to the newer style that came after the 07 model year and looked like carbon fiber...
good luck...

My vote would be take of off sand it and paint it the GM matt black that came as an option on some model years...carbon edition? Nice spring project.
Yep that won’t buff out and will need to be painted or wrapped. I have a 06 that had the silver trim. While I did not hate it I did not love it either. After reading through the forum I decided to paint all the silver trim. Dash pods, gauge bezels, door switches, e-brake button, and steering wheel controls are now flat black with a matte clear. I have a vert and decided to bring the body color onto the console. I had this professionally painted. If mine was not vert, I would have gone with the black.
Here are a few pics so you can see the difference.
