I bought a 2005 Z51 Corvette when it was 6 years old with new tires low milage for $22,000,I am looking at few 2016 Z51 in the same condition and they want $53,000 and up,that is more than twice what I paid for about the same age car, does that sound right?

I found this to base prices on: "For 2016, the base Corvette Stingray Coupe (non-Z51) now starts with an MSRP of $55,400 while the Z51 Stingray Coupe is priced at $60,400. The Non-Z51 Corvette Stingray Convertible has a starting MSRP of $59,400 and the Z51-equipped Stingray Convertible will start at $64,400."
Depends on options, condition and mileage of course.
If you can wait, then wait. If you can’t, make sure you are willing to take a possible 20k hit within a year or two on a USED car. After saying that, I bought a c6 about 4 months ago. I paid a couple grand more than I would have pre-Covid. Now the same car, spec, miles, owners would be about 10k over what I would have paid pre Covid. All that on a sub 40k 10 year old car. To me I’m extremely happy I bought it, but for more reasons than just the price I paid. If the car will bring you whatever you’re looking for than buy it. Tomorrow is never promised.

And you are complaining? If you sell you car yourself, you will probably get $20K for it. That would be 11 years of ownership for $2K. It's all relative. Just FYI, the price for 2016 seems inflated even above what current prices are. C7's prices are soft compared to C6's, so you might look around a bit more for a better deal.

I'm not sure where you're getting that info from, but not where I live. I follow C3, C6 and C7 prices closely and percentage wise the C6 and C7 prices are both up about equally.

The C7 prices I’ve seen are as ridiculous as the C6 prices. March 2020 I was looking at a ‘16 Z06 Convertible with Z07 pkg, 3LZ, manual 7-speed, sport seats, carbon fiber interior, etc. basically every available option with only 15k mi for $53k. Similar cars now are high $70s - mid $80k. ‘19 GSs that dealerships were begging people to buy with $15-20k discounts are back up to their original MSRP.
