Uniden R3. By far the absolute best detector I've ever had for range, customization and filtering of false alerts. I've previously had/used Escorts, V1 and Radenso, and none of them come close. The V1 has great range, but falses too much. As do the Escort and the Radenso XP (I had one prior to the R3, and still run it in the wife's car, it's way noisier on false K than the R3). Too many false alerts leads to ignoring your detector. You can turn off bands and more importantly you can turn down the sensitivity on bands and you can pick your tones for each band. I run Ka at full power with a very noticeable tone, K band at 50% sensitivity with a much less strident tone (not much K in our area, but I still want it on for trips), and disable X completely. That along with various filtering capabilities including for BSM (blind spot monitoring which uses K band) and ability to block audible alerts below set speeds, make it almost silent (except for real alerts).
Oh and before anyone starts complaining that filtering the K band on the R3 down to 50% just means it's not picking anything up, it's been tested at that setting to still pick up K band from the front at over 2200'.
I'm the very happy owner of a refurbished Undien R3 which I purchased of EBay, I took a long distance trip and the R3 worked perfectly warning me in plenty of time to slow down. Im SOLD on the R3

Chuck
I am waiting for test results for the Radenso Theia. This whole COVID thing killed their timeline.
I've been using V1 first gen for decades, probably should up grade to the gen 2. I took my first road trip in over a year Memorial day weekend which included hundreds of miles in the police state of Virginia where radar detectors are illegal. I decided to take mine down and run Waze. Waze reported 3 state troopers within the first 15 miles all with perfect location and adequate warning. Of course, Waze depends on there being enough active users out there to keep the data current but it sure worked that day. Not another trooper the rest of the trip.
I have both V1 G1 and V1 G2. I like the ***** and buttons on the G1 better. The G2 has better filtering for all the blind spot and cruise control radars on the new cars. In my experience, both are equally good at warning me about police radar, but with the G2 you pay attention more since it is less likely to be a false alarm.
I was on a road trip passing through VA a few years back and didn't bother taking down the V1. I had an unmarked police car (I think he was a local PD or county sheriff, wasn't a state trooper) pull up behind me and hit me with the radar gun. My detector alerted, he saw the lights and he pulled me over. I was only doing about 5mph over the limit. He was really cool though and just told me to throw the radar detector in the trunk and go on my way. No ticket or anything.
