As title says, I am debating on getting my fast 102 intake manifold ported. Car is currently full bolt on ls2 with 1.85 rockers. I know I will have to get the car re tuned. But is there any downside to getting this done? This isn't my daily driver but I do drive it a lot and often long distances so don't want to lose reliability. Also, safe to drive 50 miles or so with it on to get tuned? I have a friend with good experience willing to port at a good price and wanting to pick up a few extra hp.
Any insight is appreciated it

In reality, not really. The Corvette was designed as a performance vehicle and Chevy did a pretty good job with it as stock. The real improvements that can generate real increases in horsepower are cam & supercharging or as some have done, turbo charging. Having said that, they are vehicles that create real emotional attachments. There are several things that we do to personalize our cars and on a personal level they are ALL worth it! If you have the money to spend, do it. It will bring you satisfaction and personal enjoyment. Every little bit helps.

I doubt you would see much gains, unless you were head and cam also. I don't think fast leaves a whole lot of extra hp on the table when building these. Just a full bolt on car I would not port it. But if you do, some dyno comparisons would be cool to see.

Sell the Fast & buy a MSD, its a better manifold & you could recoup some of your money by the sale of the Fast

Nothing wrong with the FAST...especially when ported RIGHT. No disrespect to your buddy...but I would let someone who has a proven history of making power from their porting take it from here.
You'll double your gains going ported (typically). If you make 8-10 more from an out of the box FAST, you'll make about 18-20 from a professionally ported one. I can't emphasize the "skill" enough as an improperly ported manifold (even stockers) can lose power and torque.
My final recommendation is, if you're set on letting your friend do it...keep it as delivered. But if you're wanting more out of it and are willing to pay a pro to do it (Mamo comes to mind) then you'll get the results you're after. Good luck.
