Default Difference in automatic shifter ***** 2006-2007 vs. 2008 and up

I was in the process of ordering a new automatic shifter control for my 2006 base vette , gm part # 25913058 . Which is supposed to cover years 2006 to 2013 . The dealer is telling me that my original shifter **** will not fit the new shifter . Has anyone ran across this ? I see there are two different part numbers for the ***** . 2006-2007 is gm 15844216 and the 2008 and up is gm 25913059 . They are telling that I need to buy the 2008 **** , and that my factory original **** won’t work. Can anyone tell me that has replaced there 2006-2007 shifter if they were able to reuse there original shifter ****.
Thanks

The shifter and **** have not changed from 2006-2013. What has changed is that after 2007, the shifter **** stitching for the leather has changed to various colors. In 2006-2007, there was no option. It was black stitching only.
The later years has different part numbers but because of the stiching only.

Hope that helps.
