Noise when hot?
I have 4 track days on the motor and 1 on rest of drivetrain.
Car runs, shifts, does everything great.
After the 3rd session today, in the heat, when I pulled in and was driving slow letting it cool off, there was a sound that is hard to describe.
At first it sounded like something stuck in the wheel, a clicking sound. Reminded me of a blowoff valve sound. But quickly knew nothing was stuck (I pulled wheels to be sure) and it seems to increase/decrease as I rev the engine, going away at idle. Again, the best description I like a blowoff valve sound.
It isn't the lifters, as I know their sound very well. The weird part is after the car cools, no sound. And at idle, no sound. When I started the next session, it sounded great, no noise. I get done, pull into pits, as soon as I take my helmet off and drive to cool down, I hear it again. And again, nothing at idle, and more when I give it gas.
My thoughts are maybe an exhaust leak? Header leak? As the metal gets hot and expands, maybe opening up around the gaskets? I will check it in the next day or two.
I would think if it was something with the motor, I would hear something regardless if it was hot or cold.
Anyone have any ideas?
