Like so many, if not all others, I also have a broken sun visor cover. 2005 C6 Z51 6M Convertible 27K mi. I have read all of the instructions and watched the videos. When I insert the blade of a screwdriver in the slot and use the visor arm for leverage while moving the visor towards the door window, the entire mount (inner section and outer bezel) turn with it. I can't stop the outer bezel from rotating as a unit. I'm afraid that this whole assembly will break. I've taken it the entire 1/4 turn counterclockwise but the outer bezel, since it is not flat where it meets the pillar top member, distorts and, hence, my fear of breaking it. It's also necessary to place the screwdriver back in the slot on the other side of the arm to return the entire assembly to the proper position.
Any thoughts other than GM sucks for making such a simple and apparently frequent repair so ludicrous? Thanks for any replies.
I disconnected the power to the vanity lights and ditched the covers.
I have examined the fuse box diagrams but do not see where the visor lights are located. Additionally, they are probably grouped with other courtesy lights that I would not want disabled. Until I can properly remedy the situation I am using 3/4" black velcro strapping to hold the flaps in place. Actually, it doesn't look bad but I prefer to fix items correctly using stock or superior products. It's hard to believe (or not) that this issue has continued for so many years without GM changing suppliers or properly manufacturing the flaps with metal rods in the hinge. I try to fix every problem as it happens otherwise you windup with a car that has lots of issues and you lose interest in it.

I disconnected them in the piller. Take the visor off like you are going to replace the whole thing. There is a wire with a plug going to the visor. Just unplug it. It is tricky getting the visor off the piller.
And therein lies the problem. That was what I was attempting to accomplish but was headed to not only destroying the bezel but also the pillar covering material.
