Default Sqeaky *****?

Both of my C6 Grandsports (2011 MT without magnetic ride suspension and a 2012 AT CE with magnetic ride control) both tend to squeak when the rear suspension compresses. It is not all the time and is much worse when the outside temps drop below 60 degrees.

They both started about the same time (been a couple years now) and since they have different shock setups I refuse to believe that both cars are experiencing shock issues at the same time.

Is this a bushings issue and has anyone else experienced this? If a bushing problem I'm assuming the solution is to replace with urethane aftermarket bushings?

The rubber suspension bushing could be dry, failing & squeaking under use. You should check them or have a shop check them for you. Polyurethane bushings will stiffen your suspension & reduce deflection giving better controlled ride if you regularly track the car, They will also last longer...BUT they will squeak as much or more than your failing rubber bushings. Because of this they need to be disassembled & lubricated regularly. Two sides of the coin here! Do your research on bushings, possibly consider delrin bushings, if you find that your rubber bushings are at end-of-life.

More misinformation about poly bushings.

A good coat of lube on poly bushings and they won't squeak for years and years.

Probably won’t go with poly because the ride is plent stiff on both Grandsport but I’m curious what kind of lube you are referring to for them.

The occasional squeaking I was getting came from the exhaust hanger out back. Sure sounded like it was suspension related.
