Does anyone have the OEM part number for the lower shifter box for a 2006 convertible? I thought it was 15844546 but that seems to be an old number for a C7 Corvette as it reference to P/N 24279574. Can you use a C7 lower shifter box in a C6? I sent my old unit in to TMOD Customs and though it's not sloppy anymore, the shifting is ridiculously hard as the shaft doesn't slide easily back and forth. Thought it would get better after a couple hundred miles but still the same.

If you read my original post, I did sent my original box to TMOD custom and not happy with it. Is the C7 shifter box a replacement for the C6 box?
After having the shifter worked on I would suspect that the problem is something else. I would check:
Make sure the bolts on the shifter are tight
The linkage connection is centered both rotationally and back to front with the connection in the lower box. (Neutral position)
Check the linkage double U-joint at the transmission end (under the long rubber boot) for stickiness or (most important) or most important any sort of play.

I missed that part of your original post, have you contacted Tom? I have never had an issue that he didn't bend over backwards to help with. I don't know what your issue is but I had him upgrade my original box with no issues and very smooth precise shifting and then traded it in after about a year for his 20% complete unit.
Your one of the first I have heard to complain about one of his boxes and wanting to go back to a sloppy OEM box.
Good luck with whatever you choose, I would talk to Tom though.
