Ok, so my head lights are on their way back to Pennsylvania from Sunny California, and I'm going to replace the one bulbs I haven't already, it the turn signal bulbs, But what is a 5702KA as opposed to a 4157 amber bulb ? And why does GM come up with bulbs that for all intensive reasons doesn't exist ?
I can't vouch for the accuracy of the statement, but a web search revealed this ""The last two bulbs on the list exist because of GM's stupidity. GM voltage regulator set points have been creeping steadily upward for decades and are now at around 15.4v, which is causing GM bulbs to fail early andoften, especially those bulbs that are always on. The 4114 was devised as an ultra long life replacement for 3157/4157 in GM's trucks and SUVs withwhite DRLs, while 5702KA is the amber version for GM's vans and cars with turn signal DRLs".
So I should assume, that the 5702KA is a longer lasting 4157 amber ? I had a good, but brief chat with a Transportation supervisor who wondered about Corvette appetite for batteries, and I explained that Corvettes starting the C5 ( but not the sole beginning) have a apatite for power since they have ECUM and BCUM there is constant drw of about 25MA 24/7 and that almost all cars need to be on a Battery tender after 10-15 days without use. I suppose that the power grid in a Corvette id getting larger each passing year !
I had the work on the lights done by Umnitza in concord Cal. and I'm hoping their as good as everyone has said, it cost $1057.72 for the work done and $336.45 for the shipping so all in at $1394.17. So once I get them back and install again, I'll get to do some final summer driving , well lit this time !
