To me, the C7Z never felt raw. It felt savage, but not raw.. It's insanely fast, but it's also strangely numb. You mash the pedal and it warps times pace around you, but in a really comfortable and detached way. It's very weird to me, it's savagely fast, but doesn't feel it.
It's not for me. Besides it not fitting me well at 6'2, I just didn't like how it felt. It felt too digital, the computers were doing too much and I didn't like that. But everyone is different, sonymmv.
That said, if you just want to brag, yes, the C7 is numerically better. But for me, there's a lot more to a car than it's numbers alone. And frankly, even the C6 is far more car than you can safely use on the road.
"Refined Corvette". This discription of C7 is often used around here... What exactly do you suppose one expresses when saying that?... Refine your discrimination of the C6 Corvette being "raw" over C7.. Certainly not the seat!... Or the transmission.. or the crapola wheels!... What is "raw" about any 5 or 6 Corvette car? Nothing is Raw about a Corvette... Well...perhaps the headlights 🙄... The Model A is raw, not a C6 for Pete's sake!
Better is not an opinion, it's just a fact... apples to apples, head to head, the C7 has the better numbers and numbers don't have an opinion.

We could play this game all day long but I think you get the picture.
In the end results if you personally prefer on car over the other, that would be an opinion.
Bigger/faster does not mean better....yes we can play that game all day long....better is always going to be personal...You could easily say you get 99.99% of the performance of a c7 with the c6 and for half the cost....so which one is really better...then there is the normally aspirated verses blown and on and on and on....Me, I much rather have the Z in a c6 over a C7 cause its BETTER.... and yes I have had a base C7 and C6....
Some SUV's will out run a c8 from a red light to red light in the rain ...but its not really better is it...

I see your reading comprehension skills need a little work.... as I started the statement off with "apples to apples", which means comparing to same things... a base C7 compared to a C6 Z06 is not apples to apples. Base vs base, or C6 Z06 vs C7 Z06 is.
Also the initial question was not which is the better performance value per dollar spent, if that were the question I'd probably give the nod to the C6.
You could make the argument that the trackhawk is better than either because it puts down similar league times, but also seats 5 and tows a boat or rv. But they're also totally different. As silly as it sounds, the C6 and C7 feel very different as well. The C7 always felt far more digital to me, which some people like. That feeling isn't for me.
That said, I'd buy a trackhawk over a C7 or C8 so who cares what I think? Lol
If you like manual transmissions and live in a hilly area, then the C7 has a big advantage over the C6 - automatic brake lock when stopped.
I drive a manual car when young and living in San Francisco. Got very good at using e-brake when starting on big hills.
I love my C6, but which it had the auto-brake feature.
Dave
You actually would call that a “Big advantage” ?😝
I’ve been driving a MT car since I was 16 years old and barely notice this feature between my C7 and C6. This to me is just one more thing to go wrong as the car ages. I’m kinda anti-electronics I guess.

Yes, it's a benefit for a very small group of people, but in general I'm with Jason. For 95%+ of the US population, this isn't a big deal.
C-6 owner here and agree with this post completely. I'd go C-7 if for no other reason than the higher quality interior. Way too much bias in this room. Love my C-6 but ain't afraid to admit it's shortcomings and the cheap interior is one of them.

That is one of the reasons I replied to this thread in the first place.......since I currently have both generations. I get all the “advantages” of the C7......more power, better interior, better seats, better computer, better traction control and other nannies, etc........but much of that just isn’t as important to some of us older guys. I’m 49 and I see much of what I listed as disadvantages. Better seats? That’s easily remedied. More power? I fixed that too. Better head unit and sound system? Yup, I’ve got that covered with a $5,000 upgrade. All in I’m sitting at around $45,000 in the car. (I bought it for $27,500 with a clean title and 49k miles basically stock)
Let’s not forget the price of admission at the moment for a C6Z vs a C7Z.........I guess if you want to spend an extra $30k for different seats and nannies.......that’s your prerogative, but count me out. I would have to think long and hard if the cars were the same price. But like I said, this isn’t bias, it’s priorities and mine are different than yours.

Better is an opinion.
I know this might be shocking to you but different people like different things, and might even disagree on which of those things they perceive to be better.

Carry on....
Mine are fine, yours are off..... Bigger faster does not mean better...base to base/gs to gs/and z to z on and on...carry on.

And that’s ok 👍
I actually agree with this a lot! The price difference is an issue with me. I can afford either but... I'm going to look at c7z this weekend and kinda hope I find it to confining like some say.
I bought a C6 over a C7. That being said, the C7 is a better car in every way when compared to the C6, except for hip room.
10 years makes for many engineering, electronics, and ergonomics improvements. Plus, I am faster around a road course in a C7 than I am in the C6. But those improvements could not overcome the fact that I just find the C6 wide-body much more beautiful.
The same is not true for the C8 though. After spending about a half hour driving the back roads in a friend's C8, I will definitely buy one when prices return to some sort of sanity. Won't sell the GS though.
