Default Shocks

Have to change left rear shock on c6. They suggested I change both rear and also recommends align the front end. I can go with changing both shocks but also align front end. Is this normal??

Obviously if one shock is bad I'd replace both. As for an alignment I'd get one but it would be a 4-way and not just a front end alignment. I've had an alignment tech tell me that
today's Corvette's are very alignable and he really enjoys working on them as he can get them spot on to the customers or factory specs.

What a great time to upgrade to some better shocks! I'd take the opportunity to add Bilstein's to all 4 corners and put a PFADT street alignment in the car.

Shocks like brakes and rotors are consumables. They wear out and should be replaced as a set. Conventional wisdom is any time you change any suspension item you should align the car, I don't always do it, but it's the safe bet.

How many miles are on your Corvette?

Welcome to the forum. Depending upon your mileage, the best bet is to change at least both rear shocks, but ideally, it would be to replace all four with Bilsteins shocks to match your car.
If you are going with just the rear, look up in the FS section, and you may a couple of rear shocks that are close to your mileage, for a decent price.

When you replace the shocks, you should have a 4 way alignment done.

Recently did all four shocks Bilstein B8’s, moog endlinks and Friday 4 new Michelin PS 4S are going on and replacing front lowering bolts at the same time, no material left at all. Going to give it about two weeks for everything to settle in and do a four wheel alignment.

As said, replace both rears and think about doing the fronts as well as they’re likely at the end of their lives. Check your lowering bolts on top of the springs, check endlinks and sway bar bushings while you’re there and definitely get a 4 wheel alignment.

Definitely change both rears at the minimum, if you can, change all 4 and get alignment.
