Default C6

Bought a 2008 from a gentleman, he told me that Hertz made 500 cars for themselves, and a couple hundred more for the public to buy. Just wondering if that is true? Car has same options as Hertz minus the stripes, thank you in advance for any answers!

Hertz never made cars for them selves. They were all built just like every other Corvette at Bowling Green. They were special ordered by Hertz as a special fleet of performance car. GM built 500 and those all went to Hertz. there were no more built for the public. So if you buy one it is buyer beware because many were rented and then simply beat on for a few days. I know a guy that tracks a C5 Z06 and had signed up for track days at Daytona, but the the Z06 was not ready. He call Hertz at the airport to see if they had any of the special Corvettes. They did so he reserved one. Took his truck and trail and parked it away from the airport then got a friend to drive him to the airport. Picked up the Vette drove to his trailer and loaded and headed to Daytona beat on it at the track for the weekend loaded it back up took to home cleaned it up and drove it back to the airport.

As BWF said, just as Hertz did in the mid 60’s with Shelby GT350 Mustangs, nothing more then paint to separate it from the rest of the 350’s done by Shelby and company. Unfortunately the Hertz Corvettes will never come anywhere close to the desirability and price of the 60’s GT’s.

I also have an '08 ZHz and love it! It's pristine, and I plan to keep it that way either until I get too old to enjoy it anymore, sell it eventually if the price is right,, or give it to my kids.. The odometer just turned 6k miles this weekend. Enjoy it, it's a great car!

go ahead and buy some up now while they’re cheap. Just a plain Jane C6 with nothing more then a paint job unlike the the cars in the 60’s who were tweaked up( K code and other goodies) by the legend himself who’s name by itself brings big bucks and were identical to GT350 used in pro and amateur racing series and winning. They were practically legendary when they rolled out of Shels factory.
