The C6 gas leak and smell issue
There is a sticky and many older posts addressing this C6 problem, the cause, and what is required to fix it. Here is my question. Does anyone know if GM changed anything during the 2005-2013 C6 model years to rectify this problem?
I have a 2012 and I'm experiencing a strong gasoline vapor smell, predominately from the driver's side aft area, after filling the tank full two days ago. I guess I'm grasping at straws to hope that the right-side tank plastic fitting that tends to crack was redesigned on later model C6s, so maybe my problem is due to somethnig different that doesn't reacquire that difficult and expensive fuel tank R&R.
Thanks for any info.

I don't think that they changed anything involving this issue during the C6 generation, you may still be covered by the GM 10yr/120,000 mile TSB if your car is a 2012

A dealer can run your VIN and look up your date of service to see if you included in GM's 10/120k service bulletin.

The design and parts were not changed throughout the C6 run since my 2013 had this issue. As mentioned, the special coverage on this item runs for ten years or 120,000 miles from the in-service date of your car so barring mileage, you probably qualify for coverage with only a few months remaining. Timing is everything - visit the dealer now and they will perform a smoke test to verify the concern. Good luck.

Thanks Bob. Assuming you had a dealer work on your car, did you (or any others that had dealer fix this issue) have any problem with the repair? I ask because, when I look at what is involved, there seems to be a bewildering number of opportunities for screw ups associated with removing and replacing the fuel tank.
