On my 2011 Corvette I only have bluetooth for phone calls and receiving. I saw where you can buy an adaptor that plus in cigarette lighter and will allow you to play bluetooth music from your phone. Has anyone seen this and is it worth the purchase of adaptor instead of replacing stero system. Thanks.
I bought mine from Ray Kawal. He was a forum vendor. Not sure if he still is. His set up works flawlessly. Phone calls and music through my stock unit. Mine is 7 years old now and it was a great purchase.
I'd just suggest replacing the stereo with a good aftermarket system, not only will you have improved connectivity and functionally, you'll also notice a big improvement in sound quality.
If you just want an inexpensive 12v Bluetooth adapter try Amazon. I have the victsing it connects to an fm station and bluetooths to your phone. Can make phone calls and play music. I use one for my work car. Or you could upgrade to an aftermarket headunit and get a bunch more features and better sounding stereo.
I agree with the sound quality. My cd’s sound better than the radio and I want to add a back up camera so I will be looking for an upgrade to my 2012 stock unit.
Updating may not be that easy. Crutchfield has nothing in stock for our cars except the cheapest bottom of the line stuff (under $200.00). Not sure why, but there entire line of head units are out of stock.
I work in healthcare and our entire supply chain has been impacted by COVID. I'm sure Crutchfield is felling the same. Hard to get new units in stock to sell. I noticed they have very limited stock recently. Glad I upgraded late in 2019.

If you just want a BT streaming adapter, search Amazon, there are a ton of them there. I had one from Aukey that included play/pause and skip forward/back buttons that was nice because it was powered off USB, which turns on/off with the car. However, I'd really recommend upgrading the head unit. It's not hard to install, and you can get AndroidAuto/Carplay (wireless if you want), which will have better audio quality than streaming audio over bluetooth.
