I drove the Vette to get my haircut this evening and stopped at Shell on the way home to fill up with gas.. As I was about to pull out and a silver C8 pulled in beside me and complimented my car and we chatted for a minute. I of course complimented his car and asked him for a ride... which he gladly obliged. Upon settling into the seat of his C8, I quickly noticed how comfy it was. Lot's of tech stuff in there. Ironically, the more I complemented his car, the more he sincerely spoke kind words about my C6 and how the "grass isn't always greener on the other side".
Dan(C8 owner) is an interesting guy in his 60's. He's a chicken farmer and we hit it off pretty well. He bought his tag "1BAD C8" and registered it to an old beater before the C8's started selling. The tag Sat in the kitchen for 19 months while he waited on his C8.
I've made my first local Corvette friend. 😀 He has money down on 3 C8 Z06's. Lol.
It was really cool to chat with a C8 owner. He's just a dude like me that works for a living and enjoys cars. 😉
That’s pretty cool. I’ve noticed that a large percentage of c8 owners aren’t corvette people, they’re “the new vette” lovers. A lot of them are so far out of the loop that they think because their car does 2.95 0-60 and yours does 4 seconds then their car is faster. Always cool seeing outliers!
If it makes you feel any better, I paid $3.53 for the 93 octane.

Agreed. It's sad that I know very little about the C8.... other and dual clutch and 0-60 in 2.9 seconds.
It might be hard to believe but after riding in his C8, I have more of an appreciation for my M6 2011.
I’m quite certain that all the C8 owners think their car is the best all around Corvette. And well they should, having spent that much for their car.
Since I retired the year I purchased my 09 C6 (new off the show room floor) I can in no way afford a C8. I have shot my wad so to speak. My C6 has just enough tech that I know how to work all the controls. At this stage of the game I might not ever know how to operate all the electronics on a new one. LOL
My friend ordered 2 c8 zo6 cars , he already has two drop top c8s .. I don't get it ... Tonight at our weekly car show there were 4 C8s ..I was the only c6 there ..
I’ve met a couple nice C8 owners, one it was his 1st Corvette, and the other was a previous Corvette owner (C7) but still didn’t seem to know that much about Corvettes, and had no idea what my car was. Then I’ve met more than a few C8 owners who think the C8 is the end all, be all of Corvettes and any previous Corvette (i.e. C6) is crap. It’s like that with any car I suppose.
Your pics above prove the rear end of the C6 is one of the best. The rear on the C8 is…not.

As far as having (3) Z06's on order, the plan here is the take the 1st one available and let the others go.

Dan said the same thing. He specifically mentioned the round taillights.
There's more and more local C8s popping up now. They're incredible cars. But like you, they make me appreciate my M6 GS even more. I really do like the C8 and if it were available in a manual I would definitely be tempted. But, something about the lines of the C6 are like a fine wine. They just keep getting better.
Very cool story and it is really nice to hear of a positive corvette encounter. I haven't even seen a C8 around here, but I was able to both see and look closely at about 25 C8's out at Corvette at Carlisle PA last month, and for me, the C8 is a little too angular for my tastes. Still madly in love with my C6 !
Some nice pictures of the 2 Corvettes. Your C6 is really sharp. I like what the C8 owner did with the Corsa exhaust he installed. Silver is a nice color for the C8.
I imagine that installing an aftermarket exhaust on the C8 must be a lot more difficult than it was for me on my C6 and C5's.
I see a lot of C8's here in SW Florida. Some owners will talk Corvettes and others will not even wave back. Must be quite a few first time Corvette owners on the road which means a lot of used 1-2 year old C8's coming on the market soon.
I had a similar experience about a month ago at a local waterfront park, I pulled over next to a blue C8 and we chatted for about an hour. He even gave me (and phoned on the spot) the salesman's name and contact info in the event I was interested (I will be but not yet) in a C8, a REAL NICE guy. We also exchanged phone numbers. And he too kept admiring my C6, especially the DSOM color. Nice to see this is happening almost regularly.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
