For those of you with the factory stock AM/FM stereo, how is the FM reception?
Is your reception full of static?
The factory antenna is a module located in the rear between the tail lamps.
Did you notice any difference if you switched out the factory system with an aftermarket headunit like a Pioneer, Kenwood or Alpine? Or was t he FM reception still horrible after switching up to a better system?
I am wondering if it is the antenna system module (lack of a real antenna) that contributes to the terrible FM reception.
I have done Kenwood and Pioneer. FM still sucks. FM only worked with the factory radio.
Yes I suspected this could be a case since Corvette is not a metal car with a real antenna back there. Makes me wonder that on those Corvettes like C-5 that do have REAL antennas don't FM reception problems.
A Corvette bodyshop told me I might still have this very same FM reception in the Corvette even If I do spend $2,000. on an upgraded Kenwood multi-media entertainment system.
Fm booster will work fine with aftermarket radio, so long as the person installing the aftermarket radio module adapter did remember to send power to the booster to energize it correctly in the first place.

I am just wondering will it improve with a new multi-media system that replaces factory head unit. Stock system with FM module in rear between tail lamps doesn't receive well at all on FM signals.
FM reception in my 2006 Z06 sucks. I always believed it was because of the LED taillights. I use MP3 disks anyway, and can't hear them most of the time because of the exhaust and the terrible road noise, but who cares? Man, I love this car!
I started getting bad FM reception out where I live (the boonies) after I installed Moromoto headlights and taillights. I used ferrite magnets to no avail. When I would drive into San Antonio, the reception would be good. Going back home, I returned to the same bad reception. I then purchased a Kenwood head unit from Crutchfields and it may be helped a little, but not much.
At around the same time, I decided to come out of the stone age and get an iPhone 11. My daughter had a lot of music on her iPhone, so I asked where she got all the songs, she told me that I would have to pay to download songs. I'm a frugal guy, some say cheap, but I have a Corvette and they don't. I have a bunch of classic rock cd's, loaded the songs onto my computer, got some of the album artwork, and then uploaded the songs to iPhone. The Kenwood has Apple Carplay, so when I get into the Vette, music starts playing. The steering wheel buttons work for volume and song selection. When someone calls, I can answer it hands free. Text comes in and Siri reads it to me, I reply verbally, and she types it out and sends it out. What a sweetie.
Long way of saying that I don't listen to FM anymore, but I do listen to the music that I like, and it sounds great. And no $$ for music subscriptions.

I do the same, but recently was on a road trip and wanted to hear how my college team was doing, and it was a real hassle.
I still think it is the LED's in the tail lights. The LED's are fairly new. I probably had not used the FM since installing them. I need to put RF filters on the wiring.

LED'S can cause interference but I only get that when I put it in reverse when my extra bright LED back up lights go on momentarily.
All the other LEDS in my car from interior do not cause any interference but the dash cam does interfere with FM reception in my case.
So in conclusion I will have to just get an aftermarket Multi-media system like Kenwood and start from there.
