I am having difficulty with getting my interior Hatch lights working. I have replaced the bulbs, check the fuses, close the hatch and waited for system to time out, check the lever system of the hatch and the exterior button. I am not sure what else to check?
All other interior lights are working normally.
I am hoping that somebody knowledgeable on this topic can give me direction on what I may check next.
Yeah, on my 2006 Z06, it is kind of confusing to me as to what the conditions must be for the hatch area lights to come on. For one, I have found that if the engine is running and I open the hatch, then the lights do come on.
Rear hatch lights will not come on when it is bright outside. Here's a statement from page 3-19 of the 2006 owner's manual.
Courtesy Lamps
When any door or the hatch/trunk lid is opened, the
interior lamps will go on unless it is bright outside.
You can also turn the courtesy lamps on and off
by pressing the instrument panel brightness ****.
I have tried the rear hatch light both in the sun and the dark. I have not had success in getting them to come on. I also tried running the engine and opening the hatch in both light and dark situation without success. I am not sure exactly what to do at this point. It seems like it may be an electrical issue but not solvable by me. Are there any other suggestions that I might try?

Did you try pushing the unlock button on your fob like I suggested ?
If it's not the switch, then sounds like a bad ground problem. The wiring diagram in the thread above should indicate where the ground is. You can probably check yourself to see if there is power to the socket using a multimeter. If you see 12V on one side when the other interior lights are on, then use the resistance meter to check for continuity on the other side to a ground point. If you don't see 12V on either side, then it's not ground problem.
Not ground issue. Thanks for that other thread link. It most likely the switch built into latch. Will try and search for this part # 15890667 recommended on link. Thanks again.
My C6 vert trunk lights were not working. I replaced t
he bulbs, checked the fuses and grounds (as much as I could), and still no luck. In desperation, I bought a used trunk latch actuator assembly on Ebay for less than $50 from Cleveland Power and Performance Inc., www.clevelandpap.com.
Replacing the whole assembly looked pretty involved, so I just replaced the latch actuator. Pretty easy. Problem solved!
