Default New C6 Owner

Been looking for a C5 for a couple of months. My cousin sent me a Marketplace ad for a 2005 C6 and I purchased it yesterday. I had done a lot of research on the C5 but none on the C6. So now I will have to play catch up. So I will be asking questions as soon as I know enough to ask intelligent questions. Wish me luck.

Photos of my new to me C6. This is the fifth Corvette I have owned. Started with a Red 63 Split Window with the 340hp motor. It was stolen, sad face. Then I got a 69 coupe with the 350/350 LT1 and side pipes. Then a 73 coupe with no HP. Next was a 74 coupe, also no HP. Traded the 74 in for a 77 Porsche 944, biggest mistake I ever made.

Welcome!!! Best of luck and fun with your "new' C6. I too have an '05 "new to me" and I've really enjoyed my first Vette at 77 years old!! There are a few little "quirks" on C6's, and particularly '05's as Chevrolet made a few changes from '06 and up. Be aware that these cars can "eat' batteries so keep it on a "float" charger (not a battery charger) when you're not going to use it for a week or more. If you disconnect the battery be sure to re-index the windows after reconnecting power. Owners manual tells you how or search for it on this site. Might want to consider eliminating the steering wheel lock if it hasn't already been done, again search this forum. If it's a manual, consider eliminating the "shift to 4th" feature that came on the '05's. Can be easily done with a simple kit that's inexpensive. Look at the build date on your tires, even if the tread looks good. If they're over about 6 years old consider new as they develop tiny rot cracks and eventually lead to a failure. Lots and lots of articles here about tires as well. Learn how to do your own maintenance, not difficult and you'll save a ton of $$. This is a great forum and everybody is ready to jump in and offer help. Have fun.

Congrats and welcome. When you have a chance post some pictures. Did you get a manual or automatic?

Love the white C6 with the red interior, really looks sharp! Red Split Window...what a first Corvette to own makes my first a 1978 L82 Pace Car irrelevant. Enjoy it!
