I recently acquired a 2009 base (3LT) convertible (picking it up today!), and plan to replace the 6CD changer with a nav /Sirius XM/etc. system. My understanding is that the Kenwood units are best due to Garmin NAV and other quality features, just wondering what the group wisdom is on what works and what does not. Torn between the Kenwood DNR476S with 6.8" screen that fits in the existing 2-din opening, and the DNR1007XR whose larger 10.1" screen is a little bit outside (proud of?) the dash surface and will block the air vents a little but have a seriously larger screen. Has anybody done either of these, or something different that worked out really well??
Thank You for the response, or pointer to a thread on this subject that my search did not find.
Looks like the DNR476S is the winner, unless I hear about a better alternative; sorry for the thrash but the link may come in handy to someone else making this decision.
Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. I'm looking at the Kenwood units that have Garmin Nav, which will be similar to the present OEM unit. In my opinion, the oversized screen that blocks the vents just looks like an add on, which doesn't belong and cheapens the interior. They look OK in the newer vehicles that are built to add these without blocking vents etc. I would always add items to the interior that looks OEM.
It is your choice however.

I think the install of these look stupid in these cars, I think you'll be much more satisfied with the looks of a Double DIN install.
Found a link that convinced me NOT to put this monster 10.1" screen unit in my new (to me) c6

In addition to the new head unit you'll also need an interface, this is the most commonly used one on the forum. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-RTf0dC...c40bab02ffd056 Then you'll also need this dash kit. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_120953...k.html?tp=3121 Then if you want XM radio, you'll also need to buy this tuner as the stock XM tuner can't be reused with an aftermarket system. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_220SXV...0V1-Tuner.html If your car is so equipped, you can reuse the stock GPS antenna as it uses the same connector the Kenwoods use, so it'll plug right into it. If you originally had XM with your stock system, you can however reuse the stock XM antennas with the creative use of some adapter cables, this thread will show you what you need to achieve this. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-xm-tuner.html I'd also suggest adding front and rear cameras to your install while you're at it, you'll be glad you did in the long run. Let me know if you have any questions concerning your install, or you can also ask questions on the Audio/Electronics section of this forum, where you can also find a lot of good information. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...lectronics-20/
