Default Remove Adhesive From Dashboard

I just bought a 2010 C6 LT4 Black on Black. Looks like the previous owner had mounted a radar detector or something else on the dashboard in which the mounting disk is still attached via adhesive backing. Any tips on removing the disk and adhesive from the leather dashboard? Tried searching the other forum threads with nothing jumping out at me addressing this issue? First corvette and I learned a lot from this forum!!!

Thanks

Use a hair blow dryer to soften the adheasive under the disk and then pry it up slowly with a plastic pry tool. If there is any residue left, use GooGone or WD40 to remove it

That sucks that the previous owner did that.

For what it's worth, it's called 4LT interior / dash not LT4 which is an engine code as in LS2, LS3, LT1, LT4, etc.

That might help your search of threads.

I would start with fishing line or dental floss before I tried prying it off.

The hair dryer is a good suggestion

are you not suggesting WD40 because of the leather interior ( 4LT )? i've had good luck with it on other surfaces in similar situations.

Wouldn't Wd40 be a nice prime loosening the leather adhesive, We have enough trouble already.

again, not having the 4LT interior or, not having used it on leather directly, i couldn't say what effect it. that's why i was asking. but for purposes of just removing any adhesive on the outer side of the leather, i can't see using a quick dab would hurt.
it's going to soak in like water. again, having read the issues people have with the leather interior, i can see the hesitation in whatever you'd use.

Easy. Just use an adhesive remover like Motsenbockers Lift Off. This stuff will not damage the surface. It breaks the molecular bond between the adhesive and the surface,

I have been using WD40 on interiors and paint for decades. So have many others. Totally safe (except it smells lousy)

to me, it's not quite in the duct tape / baling wire realm as it's initial purpose is it's main use.
i feel like it's time fess up on other products that i've used over the years that, while seemingly cheesy, have been found to be very useful.
'hi, my name is Chris, and i admit to as having used Bars Leak sealant and J - B weld".
along with the afore mentioned duct tape & baling wire, these products have long served as, mainly short term fixes, have also been used in several long term ( 'I'll to get to that later" fixes ).
all hail our hero, 'Macgyver"!

Off topic, but a quick note for possible 4lt newcomers.
4lt leather likely will loosen and eventually pull away, even always garaged cars have had it happen. It's not isolated to just corvettes but gm quality really didn't help.
Concensus among multiple 4lt threads here indicates most who clean using only a damp cloth have had better luck, those who use dressing's tend to have issues.
It's believed by most that dressings over time could damage the adhesive bond.
I'm not a veteran here by any means and have just learned from others, I'm lucky to be lazy and had not cleaned or treated the dash much before I knew.
Regards

Many better other choices out there.

You can use it, I'll save it for door locks & stuff

yes I am.
There are many products out there for the specific use of what the OP wants.
Too me WD is not one of them.
To each their own.

I agree on using other specifically designed products. it's just sometimes, their will / can be some product crossover. use at your own peril & comfort level.

I've used WD40 to take adhesives off , many surfaces without any problems. Used it to take paint marks from other vehicles and minor tar marks etc also. Just be gentle using an old cotton cloth. I use graphite for door locks.
