Just read an article about the upcoming shutdown of 3G networks. Will that affect us as C6 owners? I don't have an OnStar subscription. I have a Kenwood HU and use Apple CarPlay so I don't think this will impact me at all, is that a correct statement? I guess OnStar crash reporting won't work anymore, luckily, I've never had to use that feature.

Yes, Onstar in C6s will be dead with the shutdown:
The 2G network that connects your vehicle to OnStar® will sunset in December 2022. Once the 2G network sunsets, the three-button OnStar interface in your vehicle will be deactivated. GM is actively working to evaluate options for vehicles impacted by the 2G network sunset. GM will notify you when a solution is available.
I don't use Onstar - with the 2G shutdown I'm probably going to pull out the huge window brick. I'd also like to replace the mirror with a more modern frameless mirror or something without the 3 (now worthless) buttons if possible.
I've been searching and there are posts on people wanting to swap mirrors but I haven't seen any "after" pictures. To my knowledge the C6 came w/ one mirror. I'm considering splicing in a Gentex miror like this if I can find the same mounting adapter. I know they have different adapters for different brands, but not sure about the C6. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-46aNSx...4aApDuEALw_wcB

I'd love to find a frameless mirror as well, unfortunately, the C6 has a weird mount design so I'm not sure if anything will fit without removing the factory mount as well and doing a completely new style.
And I believe there was only one basic mirror although there were two versions: with and without Onstar (the mirror itself was the same just whether or not the buttons were there).
