I have owned my corvette for close to 6 months now. 2012 Corvette A6 w/ long tubes, catless with a flow master axle back . The car has 90,000 miles and drives beautifully. It seems the car is always “searching” for a gear. After coasting at the same speed you would need to push the gas 50% for the car to drop a gear. Otherwise it “bogs” and slowly climbs. I’ve read some other forums and this seems to be the normal but I can tell something is off. When coming to a stop the car “bucks” a little and it seems the car is surging but can’t confirm. Oil temps 190-220, coolant 190 steady, trans temp 180-210 all driving around town. The car also makes a nasty “squeal” from 1700rpm-2100rpm. It doesn’t happen every time, extremely intermittent but happens 2-3 times a day. I’ve examined the belt, it seems fine, barely any wobble on harmonic balancer.
any insight and or help into these issues would be appreciated! I want to be proactive and catch anything before anything major happens.
Neither my '08 with an A6, or my '12 with an A6, ever had to search for a gear. It is true that if you have the tranny in D, and are using the paddles, it will not downshift, but will upshift, which might cause what you are feeling..
I think it is more likely that the seller installed a custom tune that might need fixing, or adjustment, or the seller failed to install a custom tune after adding the tubes, and deleting the cats. I am no expert on such things, but that seems reasonable. Your temps seem to be in line, no problem.
The squeal could be the HB, but that would usually show up on start-up more than above-idle rpms. The sound is coming from the engine area, correct? Possibly a bad pulley. If it is happening 2-3 times daily, you can spray the belt with "belt dressing", then drive all day and see if it still happens. If it does not, that would indicate it is a belt or a pulley. If it still squeals, I would have the HB taken care of.
There are brighter folks on here than me, and they might have some other answers for you. good luck.

I drive the car in D mode and I barely use the paddles. Since I have had the car I have taken it to a local tuner who pulled the tune on the car and compared it to a stock tune. I don’t think there was any discrepancy between the two. The sound is coming from the engine area, to be more specific back of engine where it meets the drivetrain. Could it be torque converter?
harmonic balancer was changed at 40,000 miles and torque converter repaired/ changed in 2018 no other information.
Now that you say the noise is from the back of the engine, I can't think of anything but the TC. Your car has had some mods done, and also some repairs that few C6's would need. If the TC was removed/repaired, they must have changed the fluid. Again, you will get some help from more knowledgeable people than I.

If you have a stock tune with headers and cat delete that’s an issue.
both of those need to be tuned for.
while your in the tune look at the tranny pressure and shift points, you should
be able to duplicate your issue on the dyno.
Do you know if your converter was replaced with a stock or aftermarket unit?

i plan on calling up the dealer who performed the service and clarifying whether it was stock or aftermarket. I can make the assumption that it was probably stock replacement
