Default LS7 Dyno Data

My bud works for GM and got the opportunity to see the LS7 engine on the dyno. He didn't give me exact figures but said that the engine was going to be rated at 450hp. However, he said that there was some variation in the engines and that 450hp rating was very low. A more accurate power rating would be 500hp, and GM just wanted to go conversative. The LS7 is to be put in the performance version of the vette, but he didn't know anything about it being 6.0L or dual cams in block or anything.

Sounds like the right range for the performance model. Not sure about the LS7 designation, though.

GM Powertrain discussed this engine with the editiors of Hot Rod over a year ago. Bore and stroke were stated yielding a displacement of 392 CI. The engine has two inblock cams, but GM was cagey about the valvetrain details. Three valves per cylinder is a possibility! The RPO designation was not mentioned, but LS7 is a logical designator.

Dyno sheets of development engines were provided which showed torque and power of about 450.

Being as how this engine looks to be two years away, they have plenty of time for additional development and refinement.
