Tech 2. Borrow/rent
As for buying a clone, VX GM Nano's are only $11 on amazon, and can either get a copy of TIS2000 to flash the BCM if the C6 is 2008 or older, or will need to get a 24 month subscription to TDS for $40 (per vin) instead (TDS is for all years).

If you don't need to firmware flash in a New BCM, but only do some RPO mods to the BCM in the car, then Tech 2/Nano alone works for that.
.
The VX Gm Nano works all the cars that GM was/is involved in, so cars like Saabs as well.
If you need a nano for say Merc. BMW, ford, mazda, Toyota, land rover, jag, they have nanos for these that come with the needed specific software as well.

And worth the 250 bucks to sit in the driver seat and command your windows and wipers to come alive!
Much more fun than commanding the engine RPMs to increase so can check alternator output.

Yes and no on the tools, since all GM cars from 20013 use GDS2, instead of the older tech2win software. GM ditched the old Tech 2 hand held tools that could only run Tech2win software, and went to MDI units that could run both tech2win and GDS2 software on computers instead.
Hence the VX GM nano is a MDI1 clone, so it can runs all the same software computer loaded as the current GM tools run as well.
So tech2 win, GDS2, Tis2000, and TDS on line. With the old hand held units, came loaded with Tech2win itself, and could be used in pass though with TIS2000 and TDS on line (but at a slow transfer rate that the MDI1 and MDI1 clones.
Quick note, there is no such thing as a MDI2 clone!!!! What they are calling a MDI 2 clone, is just a MDI1 unit, with a wifi board solder on. So it's transfer rate/memory storage is no where near that of a real Bosch MDI2 unit (don't get tricked into buying one).
