Ok I need some help. I just got this auction car as a project for me and my son and looking to get it running. I had a 2012 GT500 and bought it brand new did my own mods replaced the supercharger and so forth. It is one thing to have something all put together and as you unplug things you remember where it goes to put it back. It looks like this car had a supercharger in it and they removed everything that went with the supercharger. I don't understand why they needed the bolts for the alternator, even if they got another corvette to put the supercharger back in that car has the bolts. I know I need a Clod air intake, fuel injectors, MAF, spark plugs wires and coils. I have not taken the intake manifold off yet to scared to see what is or isn't behind the valve covers. I am a noob when it comes to LS motors. This was an auction for a burn on the rear of the car by the exhaust so my fingers are crossed that the bottom end of the engine is still good.
You don't say what year it is or how many miles are on it. Don't think I'd worry about the bottom end just yet but get it together and running first. If you're not sure what goes where or what you need find a similar car and get a good look. Take some pictures. If you're not in a Corvette club find one in your area and find somebody who'd let you get a good look at his. Good time to take a look at the harmonic balancer as well. If it's questionable now's the time. Does it turn over with the start button? What if any DIC codes are you seeing? You've got your work cut out but assuming there's nothing major with the motor you should be fine. Hopefully you bought it right!!!
Its going to be most helpful to know the year and miles of the car. Looks like your going to need quite a few parts here. What does the rest of the car look like.
Since it looks like the car may have had a pretty hard life. First I would run theVIN at your local Chevrolet dealer to get some Idea of where the car has been and any service history available. Next you should should make a list of any obvious tarts that the car needs and see if those parts are available from GM or the aftermarket. You may also want to pull the engine to get a better idea of what you are working with. Having a turbo or supercharger at one time may lead to other issued that are not obvious at this point. This may be a nickel and dime project which may get interesting for you and your son.
ok so I lifted the car to take a look at the long tube headers, which are kooks and saw the oil pan was cracked. I am going to have to take the engine apart and see the condition. I am thinking the block is bad and might have to replace it. If the block is toast which should I go for a long block or short block?

Depending on how many missing engine parts or if they are in poor condition, I would consider the long block.
Visit car-part.com for possible parts. You're going to need a rear wiring harness for sure. You may be able to get a complete rear section (cut off at the base of the rear hatch and all the way around). Good luck! You don't say what you paid for it but I'm assuming you bought it right as you're working on the engine as well as the rear end. You might also consider a used low mile engine from a wreck. Lot's of LS motors around and you might find one from a Vette.
Thank you for the info. I use car-part.com it is a great site. Yes the corvette was a good price but most importantly it is a project car. This car hits on alot of points it had some engine work( now alot of engine work) some body work and some paint work. I did not want major body work after all this work is in my garage on the floor with jack stands. My son who is 18 wants to be a auto mechanic and I want him to get his hands dirty. He took all the automotive classes he could in high school. Back in the day (I know but it had to come out) I had an 85 mustang got it cheap and I wrenched on it almost every day. Now it is hard to find a cheap car to wrench on so I am helping as much as I can.
