I have a cammed 06 corvette with long tube headers and it suddenly started idling a lot different and the gas mileage went down quite a bit. i was told it was my o2 sensors so i ordered some new upstreams.(no downstreams cause no cats) i took it to the shop to get them changed and they told me i didn’t have any sensors nor a place to connect them at. im just very confused on what it could be if i haven’t had sensors this whole time since i got the car a month ago. i didn’t know you could delete the upstream sensors on your car.
You should have sensors. Usually on longtubes they are located forward of the collector or end of the header. Climb under there and look. I find it odd a shop couldn't locate them. I highly doubt your car has no O2s.
It's my understanding that the downstream sensors are only to moniter the condition of the catalytic convertors. These can be programed out. On the other hand, the upstream sensors control the air/fuel mixture.
I don't see how you car could run without the upstream sensors.
The only way it doesn't have sensors is if it was tuned to be in open loop. I'm not sure why anyone would do that. But again just get up under there and take a quick peek for yourself.
Yes, I meant open loop.
Did the shop say if it had O2 bungs that were plugged? If it was tuned to be open loop all the time then yes you may not have any O2's.
The only way it doesn't have sensors is if it was tuned to be in closed loop. I'm not sure why anyone would do that. But again just get up under there and take a quick peek for yourself.
