Default Audio control module missing

My Trunk will not open by the interior button.. also I have the warning that says top not secure. The dealer says the audio control module is missing. Someone has installed a new radio and removed it. They say for in order for the trunk to work by the button and to get the top not secure warning off , I need to buy an audio control module , this completes a circuit. Just wondering if this is correct. Thanks

So when they removed the new radio, did they reinstall the stock radio ?

So if I understand correctly you have no radio at all in your car ? I don't believe the problems you're having are associated with your radio, because there is no "Audio Control Module" with the stock stereo. What I'd suggest, if you don't have a radio at all, is you find a good aftermarket head unit and get a new interface and install it. The most commonly used interface is the PAC RP5-GM11 shown here https://www.crutchfield.com/S-nJtRqE...08d23ec2e8283b An interface is needed for the cars canbus system to be able to communicate with the aftermarket system, but isn't used with a stock system. Once you wire this interface up to your aftermarket head unit, everything is pretty much plug and play, unless you also install a rear view camera, satellite radio tuner, then it gets a tad more complicated.

If you don't want to deal with an aftermarket system and interface, then you could just find a good used stock stereo and everything will just plug straight into it (no interface needed) sometimes you can find used stock stereos in the For Sale/Want to Buy section of this forum https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...le-wanted-115/ or you can also find them on eBay https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...radio&_sacat=0 If you choose to get a stock navigation system however and your car didn't originally have one, you'll have tho get an additional GPS antenna for it, and a dealer or someone with Tech 2 would also need to marry the nav system to your particular car, because it won't work with your car until this is done (anti-theft). And if your car has steering wheel controls, you'll need a newer stock stereo capable of control from steering wheel control, this should be any stock system out of a 2008 - 2013 Corvette.
