Im not by any means a diehard enthusiast but i dont like the C8 vette because it looks like a Lambo. I dont like the Electric version because it will sound like a Tesla. I drove a Tesla once but without the engine roar you are missing a big part of adrenaline rush of the power. Im sure it would be fun to drive but i like the rumble and roar of a gas engine.
what are your thoughts.
It's a sign of the times but I think GM will still honor ICE in the Corvette for a long time. Many companies are doing cool things with hybrid + ICE technology and I think GM will be no different. It's a great time to be a Corvette fan, even if they're auto-only
The hybrid will still have the LT2 in all its glory along with an electric assist on the front wheels. What's not to like about this? I think once the performance numbers come out, a lot of people may change their opinions. Unfortunately electric and smaller IC engines are the future, but this is the best of both worlds in my opinion. I'm looking more forward to this than an all electric corvette, unless it can put down Tesla Plaid numbers with the handling and brakes to back it up
Sadly, a lot of Vette owners will not be driving 20 years from now, which is the time many reasonable people foresee the sun setting on ICE's. Given the truly incredible performance of many all-electric cars, I don't see how any two-seater will be in sufficient demand to warrant their production. By 2042, with the VROOM gone, or going, and many sedans easily going 0-60 in 3 seconds, how many buyers will lay down what will surely be HUGE bucks for a quiet 2-seater with the same performance as an everyday car? It is a sad view of the future, and may not come to be, but it's what I see.
For me, the C6 may be the last great Vette, combining the roar of a V8 with timeless looks. Yes, I would buy a C8 if/when the price comes down to earth, but I don't think they have the overall appeal of the C6. YOMV...

You opened a "can of worms"
I know elec is the future which I kinda get but I don't like it.
I'm a baby boomer and American v8 and internal combustion is the way I ride.

Hell ya, I've to many electric vehicles burst into flames.

The problem is complexity and weight, both of which the hybrid system adds.
I wouldn't mind replacing my C6 with an electric Corvette one day. As long as it performs well, it doesn't make much of a difference to me either it's powered by a electricity or ICE.
I'd love to see an FCEV Corvette instead of battery powered. Eliminate some of the charge time but have the same performance of electricity.
