Default Passing Through Firewall

How do you do it?

I am wiring up a front camera and have the wires ready on both sides of the firewall, I just need to pass one side through to the other. I searched for a solution on here and found the large rubber grommet many people have used but I can seem to pass through it. It's the one under the cabin air filter behind the dry sump tank.

I tried from both the inside and the outside. I took a coat hanger and covered the end with electrical tape so it wouldn't stab into my wiring harness, then lubed it up with grease, and went to town. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get through. I had better luck starting from the inside, but the hanger would only go in an inch or two and get stuck on something. From the outside going in, I couldn't even get the hanger started in the hole.

Then I tried passing through the accordion looking grommet under the upper door hinge on the passenger fender. I got the hanger to go inside but I couldn't find it on the inside.

Any other tips to get through without drilling a new hole or damaging my existing wires? It pretty much has to be on the passenger side to avoid adding and re-running wires.

I had to run power for my sub amp, I carefully drilled a hole in the location shown in the pictures, I also added a grommet to seal it. This area is behind the battery by the main harness I believe you're referring to, you can see the battery tray at the bottom of the first picture. However I did run my camera wiring through the main harness grommet, but it was a real pain to get it through.

I ran wires through the large grommet you mentioned. I removed the black tape, used a lubricant, and pushed a stiff wire through.

I’ve run cabling through at the hood release cable grommet for a wide band.

try that end.

I ran mine alongside the right fender, then under the battery and then I removed the black trim ( the one with the screws in it) and pulled off the weatherstripping at the door. I tucked it inside the weatherstripping, then once it was inside the car, down to the fuse box and up to trim into where the HUD is. Didn't drill any holes. You can't even see the wire under the hood unless you know what to look for.

My front camera wires are run under the driver’s fender, under the a-pillar trim and into the cabin behind the gauge cluster. Was pretty simple.

Did the same, worked great. No real modification to the car after I taped it back up.

I did the same as Jabcat. Worked great, don't even know its there. No grommets, no holes and no worries.
