Hi all Corvette fans,
Just wanted to ask if it is normal to change the ECM after 60,000 miles.
The reason why I suspect foul play is that I took the C6 to replace the transmission oil, filter along with the gasket kit as I saw some red colored light oil on the ground few times.
The dealer told me that the transmission is not leaking and it is better not to replace the transmission oil to prevent transmission slipping (based on his experience with other cars).
He however said that the power steering pump is leaking and as he does not have it in stock, I can very well buy it and bring to the workshop and they will replace it. I did that and got a new replacement from SMC Performance.
After few days, he told me that during their inspection they found that the ECM is not working and it needs replacement in the range of $700. This is fine but the ECM was working fine when I brought the C6 and there were not any indications on the cluster of engine problems. How did it just got shortened? Is it possible that the mechanic had accidentally shortened the device?
Your feedback would be highly educational and welcomed of course.
I agree with both notes and the way to find out is to go to the dealer and see the car either later today or tomorrow (whether the dic shows any error codes or not).
Thank you for your feedback. I just know that I can always relay on sound feedback from the experts in this forum.
